Charles “Chuck” Pyle is an artist, illustrator, painter en plein air and in studio with a streak of humor, story telling, but above all, a love of drawing and painting the world around him.

Charles, or ‘Chuck’ as he is known, has been an artist since he was little, with a successful career as a painter illustrator since 1976. Finding the right way to tell a story in a painting has always been his strength, injecting a bit of humor or drama a hallmark, and making clients and collectors happy the ultimate goal.

Chuck has been honored with the Distinguished Educator in the Arts Award from the Society of Illustrators, and an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Art University for his service as Chair of the School of Illustration and in the classroom for many years. He retired from that roll in 2021. He is a founding artist member of both Sonoma and Telluride Plein Air and has been in many exhibitions over the years.
